Testing Protocol:

Count maximum repetitions of military-style pull up with full extension. Arms should be at shoulder width with an overhand grip. The athlete will start in the bottom position with arms fully extended. The athlete will then start the upward movement, pulling with their arms and lats. For the rep to count, the athlete must break the horizontal plane of the bar with their chin. Must return to the fully lowered position to begin next rep.

Scoring Notes:

  • Count only full repetitions – no credit for half-reps
  • No swinging or kipping to generate momentum
  • Warn athlete immediately when a rep is not valid
  • Legs should remain fully straight to body
  • Athlete may rest as this is an untimed test
