Testing Protocol:

Measure the maximum number of repetitions of a military-style push-up. The test begins with the athlete in the upright position with arms fully extended, hips in line with the shoulders. The athlete will then bend the arms and lower their chest to the floor. Once the chest has touched the floor, the athlete will then press until the arms are fully extended again. 

Scoring Notes:

  • Score is number of valid reps performed in 2 minutes 
  • Count only full repetitions
  • No “head-bobbing” of any kind
  • Must raise to full extension and lower to proper angle
  • Warn athlete immediately when a rep is not valid
  • Count valid reps out loud
